CEO Credit Card Analysis FAQ

Select a question:

Who may participate in this program?
Participating financial institutions must be a current member of RFG’s CEO Strategies Group and currently offer credit card products.  Several major card processors are capable of preparing the credit card data to our specifications.  Check if your processor is currently able to supply data to RFG.  If your institution processes credit cards in a "pass-through" fashion, you must be able to provide RFG with a transaction activity extract for each card account -- RFG will provide a detailed specification of the data points we need.

How is the CEO Credit Card Analysis different from RFG’s CEO Strategies Program?
CEO Strategies is a data source for the CEO Credit Card Analysis.
Because this program looks specifically at each credit card's summarized transaction and income data and combines it with the core deposit and loan data from CEO Strategies, we are able to provide an analysis that looks at the complete household picture.  For those institutions wrestling with the question of whether or not to sell their portfolio, this analysis is essential since it shows the total value the credit card brings to the household.   TOP

How will our institution benefit?
This program provides a unique look at the institution’s household relationships and the impact that card products have on your bottom line. It provides actionable tactics that will help you grow your portfolio in four strategic areas: Acquisition, Activation, Usage and Retention.  It also provides other benefits like cross-sale opportunities. (Find out which cardholding members are likely to respond to a Home Equity Line Of Credit offer.  Find out who will respond to a Consumer Loan or a checking product offer, to name just a few.)

Additionally, the analysis provides visual and tabular analysis to help you understand what drives the profitability of credit card accounts and how specific segments use your card products.  TOP

Where does the card data come from?
In many cases the data will be delivered by your primary credit card processor once you give your permission.  See below for a list of processors who are currently able to supply credit card data to RFG.  If your processor is not listed, we will work with you to collect the needed data.  Please contact us.
TOP

Can you include debit card data in the analysis?
No, credit cards and debit cards are fundamentally different; one is a revolving line of credit while the other is a delivery channel for checking. If you are seeking an in-depth understanding of your debit card activity, RFG's Delivery Channel Activity Report provides an excellent analysis.
TOP

What data fields should be provided?
If you process you cards in a "pass-through" fashion, RFG will provide a detailed list of the fields we are seeking and discuss it with your IT department.  To obtain the Credit Card Fields list, contact RFG.

Which credit card processors have supplied credit card transaction data to RFG's specifications at this time?
   Certegy
   PSCU Financial Services
   Town North Bank
   The Members Group
   & Pass-through users

May we discuss with an RFG expert any related data that our providers may be able to deliver?
Yes. Please contact RFG to discuss your particular situation at 800-827-3500. We have worked with a wide range of data processors and providers to facilitate data collection. We are always happy to work with new processors or pass-thru institutions.
TOP

Can we take advantage of this data using the iNTEGRATOR MCIF?
Yes, we process the data into a suitable import file for iNTEGRATOR for RFG Partners.  You can then use the data to create queries like: "show me all A and B households that do not have a premium credit card", or "display all E households that do not carry a card balance from month to month and who generate little or no interchange income."
TOP

Do card processors charge a fee for creating the data file?
So far, we have not heard of any, but this is subject to change.  Please contact your card processor to learn what your cost may be.
TOP

How often can we participate?
You may participate once or twice a year, on the same cycle as your CEO Strategies, depending on your needs
TOP

When do we receive the CEO Credit Card Analysis?
You will receive the CEO Credit Card Analysis at a regional workshop, or via interactive web session or teleconference, depending on your ability to attend a regional workshop.  Typically, the workshop will be scheduled a few weeks after your CEO Strategies seminar.  There is a per person fee to attend the workshop.
TOP

Do we get an Analysis book like we do with CEO Strategies?
Yes, we provide two complete copies.  The CEO Credit Card Analysis book is a detailed report, and like the CEO Strategies book, compares your data to national averages.  Additional copies of the book can be purchased for a nominal fee.
TOP

What does the program cost?
RFG Partner institutions receive a discount. Please contact us for pricing at 800-827-3500. (Reminder: you must be active in RFG's CEO Strategies Program to participate in the CEO Credit Card Analysis.)
