A recent study conducted
by Raddon Financial Group (RFG) shows that thirty-five
percent (35%) of households who have a checking
account and debit card with a credit union would give
the credit union all of their future loan
business. This is compared to thirty percent (30%) of
households who have checking but no debit card and
twenty-four percent (24%) of households without
checking.
The study also showed that
forty-four percent (44%) of households who have a
checking account and debit card with a credit union
would give all of their deposit business to
the credit union. This is compared to thirty-eight
percent (38%) of households who have checking but no
debit card and nineteen percent (19%) of households
without checking.

"The data suggests that
credit unions have another weapon other than price in
their arsenal to create a greater affinity with
members" said Bob O’Meara, Vice President, Director of
Research.
The results of the study
came from RFG’s CEO Member Survey program. The results
were nationally representative of credit union members
based upon 169,619 survey responses. The study’s
confidence interval for any proportion gathered in the
survey is in a range of .14% to .24% at the 95% level
of confidence.
